The project consists of adding a new wing, a new swimming pool, and internal renovations to an existing home, originally designed by Daffonchio Architects in 2012. The existing home is a minimalist statement, with expansive spaces, clerestory windows, and a seemingly floating roof. The additions needed to merge seamlessly with the existing, enhancing the clean architectural language.
The new wing consists of a guest suite, gym, and patio with an accessible roof for entertainment. The roof continues the floating effect created by the original house, with recessed downstand beams and steel columns, allowing the structure to virtually disappear. New vegetation and landscaping elements are introduced to create a soft, natural feel for the indoor and outdoor spaces. The existing home also receives a dressing room extension and new carport, continuing the existing language and palette of smooth aluminum, warm timber, and open glazing.
